Venice students place in regional Japan Bowl

Nine Venice High students participated on March 7 in the Japan Bowl of Southern California. Three of those students placed second, and another three placed third in their respective levels of competition.
The Bowl encourages high school students currently enrolled in levels III and IV to compete in their knowledge of Japanese language, history, and culture.

Three Venice teams participated, and each consisted of three students. Level III Team 1 consisted of Sterling Carr, Laura Johnson, and Anika Troeger. They won second place. Level IV Team 1 consisted of Monica Eskander, Jordan Levine, and Linda Mendez. They won third place. The final team, Level III Team 2 consisted of Xekias Hayes, Kelvin Lopez, and Gabriel Say.

The third annual Japan Bowl of California was held at Loyola Marymount University. First place winners from each level move on to the National Japan Bowl, which is held in Washington, D.C. and represent Southern California.
