Enjoy October at Local Festivals

With the arrival of the autumn season and Halloween just around the corner, October is a popular month for festivities. Here is a list of local events.

If you’re looking for something active, the “Discover Marina Del Rey” festival takes place on Oct. 9 at Burton Chace Park at 13650 Mindanao Way from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free to those who would like to be educated about the environment, health, and safety, and with the purchase of a $5 wristband, you can get into all of the games, water events, and other activities.

On Oct. 15, there’s a carnival at Saint Mark’s School at 912 Coeur d’Alene Avenue that features rides, live music, food trucks, and even a rock wall. This event costs $3 for entry, and rides are a separate ticket.

At the end of the month, on Oct. 28 – 30, Marina Del Rey’s Harvest Days and Haunted Nights will be open for all local Halloween and fall lovers, also at Burton Chace Park. This three-day festival is open all day for all ages, although the nighttime activities are recommended for ages 13 and up. Carnival games, pumpkin carving, food, and costume contests, hay mazes, zombies, and haunted ship tours are offered. Event admission is absolutely free.

With so many events to choose from, an October full of fun is only just beginning.
