New Disney Princess Moana Creates Waves

“Moana,” a new Disney animated film, is about a Polynesian princess who goes on an adventure beyond her island’s reef to save her people.

Moana Waialiki, voiced by 14-year-old Auli’i Cravalho, is an outgoing teen that has been chosen by the ocean to find Maui, a demigod voiced by Dwayne Johnson. Moana was told by her grandmother to look for Maui under his weapon’s constellation.         Maui has unwittingly filled the island with evil and darkness, and Moana convinces him to embark on a voyage across the ocean to replace the heart of an island that Maui had taken.

The heart of the island gave life to all of the plants and trees, so with it gone, there was nothing left. The darkness had spread to many islands, so Moana had no choice to help replace the heart to save her own island.

The film has a lot of great qualities and really lived up to my expectations. The movie is very entertaining. It contains many scenes that are funny like when Maui makes fun of Moana being a princess, and it is always great to laugh watching a movie.

“Moana” is an action-packed film that keeps everyone intrigued for the entire duration. Maui fights a fiery lava witch who blocks Moana and Maui from getting the heart back to the island.

“Moana” is comparable to other Disney animated films, as it will have a special place in your heart after watching it. “Moana” gives off the same Hawaiian vibe as “Lilo and Stitch,” but it contains an entirely different plot that makes it even more enjoyable.

“Moana” also has a great soundtrack. “Hamilton” creator Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote the songs for movie. Dwayne Johnson sang the song “You’re Welcome,” and it was incredibly catchy and great.

The movie is great for all ages, and is a movie that the whole family should go see. The Oarsman gives “Moana” a 10 out of 10.
