The boys soccer team made it to the quarterfinals of CIFLACS Boys Soccer Playoffs- Division IV, before losing.

They won their first playoff game against Los Angeles High School on Feb. 22 that went into overtime and ended with a score of 3-2. Their second and, unfortunately, final playoff game was against Santee High School on Feb. 24 that ended with a score of 1-0.

Team Captain Juan Vargas describes his experience as “challenging at times, but I feel that I did pretty well; I did my best.” Vargas feels that the team as a whole needed to work on communicating with one another, but that they always supported each other. “We knew what to do individually, but we couldn’t quite put it all together,” said Vargas.

According to Coach Ivan Gomez, the team played with a lot of heart and determination.

“The team showed that they wanted to be in playoffs, they showed that they

earned it, and that they deserved it,” coach Gomez said. He said he loves being the soccer coach, and his favorite part of being their coach is working with the students on the team.

In the end, the boys varsity soccer team finished their season with an overall record of 4-10.
