The golf team finished their season strong, having placed second in Western League Finals.

Team captain Peter Park, Daniel Park, and Faiz Shamji competed in City Finals on May 17. They did not place very well though, according to Peter Park.

The team competed in the Western League Finals against Carson High, LACES, Narbonne High, Robert F. Kennedy High, and University High in early May. As a team, they got second place. Individually, Peter Park placed ninth and Shamji placed seventh.

Peter Park feels that overall, the team as a whole has improved from last year, but believes that he didn’t work as hard as he could have.

“Personally, I think I’ve been slacking off because I’m a senior, you know,” Park said.

Peter Park, Chad Sharrieff, and Shamji are all seniors and therefore, this is their final season playing for Venice’s golf team.

“I’m definitely going to miss it,” said Park, “I like playing golf, and I like my teammates.”

“This was my first and last time on the team,” said Shamji. “I will definitely cherish it.”

“I think it was a very monumental experience,” said Sharrieff, “It was interesting to see people share the same excitement about golf.”

Sharrieff was not able to attend the League competition due to communication issues. He feels that his performance this season was mediocre and that he could’ve done better in regards to his shots.

“We believe we made quite a good showing this year,” said Coach Kevin Behrendt. “We have three returning players including Daniel Park and are confident we will continue to have a strong team.”
