”The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1” (directed by Francis Lawrence) got a brilliant rating from reviewers like IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes but for teens like me, it might be somewhat boring. The movie was released on Nov. 21 and has already made over $394 million. It made its money because of the big fan base of the “Hunger Games” trilogy.
The last movie, “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, ends when Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) shoots an electric arrow at the dome, destroying it and setting the hunger games participants free. This movie starts where the other movie ends.
The first scene shows Katniss in a tunnel looking straight at the camera, terrified, and the next scene shows a person asking to Katniss if she is alright. District 12 was bombed after the hunger games because Katniss was from there.
District 13 President Alma Coin (Julianne Moore) and Plutarch Heavensbee (Philip Seymour Hoffman) requested to talk to Katniss about something. They want to ask her to join the fight against the government and create a propaganda to get people to join the rebels.
At first, Katniss says no but then she changes her mind to rescue hunger games partner Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) from the capital and to let her sister Prim keep her cat.
It gets boring here while the propaganda team is trying to make a video. After they make the video and broadcast it to the districts and the capital. Peeta sees the video when it is broadcasting and he warns Katniss about an attack. Now the movie gets real interesting again.
In general, the movie was a very slow movie because it is leading up to the next movie. During the credits, the cast did a little memory of Philip Seymour Hoffman who died before the movie was released. During the movie, there were parts of the movie where the directors had to give his lines to others actors.
