Teen Court

August Bleiweiss, Reporter

Teen Court is a real trial conducted by real judges.

“Teen Court shouldn’t be confused with school discipline cases from Venice High School,” said  ALPS Chairman Brian Bleser. The cases are always from different schools. The defendants aren’t from Venice because it would be a conflict of interest, said Mr. Bleser. The first Teen Court session, on Sept. 4, was an orientation and mock trial for Venice students.

Teen Court takes place on the first Wednesday of every month in the old cafeteria. The next Teen Court Session is on Oct. 2nd. Participants receive two hours of community service per session. The Academy of Law and Public Services sponsors Teen Court.

Academy of Law and Public Service is sponsored by Mr. Bleser, a Biology and Chemistry teacher at  Venice High School.
