For the first time in two years, football, 1-1, will play 0-3 Paramount today at home.

The last time they played each other, Paramount won 49-12, so the Gondoliers will be looking for a bit of revenge, coach Angela Gasca said.

The game will be at 7 p.m.

Gasca thinks it will be a tough matchup.

“They are aggressive, play hard and are well-coached,” Gasca said. “It will be a fun match-up and great opportunity to prepare for our big game against Pali.”

However, the Gondoliers will be short-handed ahead of the game. According to junior quarterback Paul Kessler, the team is missing seven players due to COVID-19 safety and protocols but he still thinks the team has a good chance of winning.

“As long as we execute on offense and defense, we’ll be good,” Kessler said.

Since their last game against Newbury was cancelled due to COVID-19 safety issues, the team will be coming off a 26-0 win over Santa Monica on September 10.

“Our offense is still coming around,” Gasca said. “But we made some adjustments and made the offensive game plan more simple at half time.”

Gasca also applauded the team’s great defense, as they held Santa Monica to zero points and thought they are making strides offensively as they get more and more practice.
