Girls Varsity Volleyball Team Says Hello To Playoffs
October 27, 2015
The Gondolier volleyball team has been playing in league at high speed. The girls have only lost twice in the Western League, but to only one team, Palisades. On the other hand, this group of girls has defeated every other team in the league with very little competition.
Venice has twice defeated Fairfax, University, Hamilton, LACES, and Westchester. Venice won all games 3-0. In the Westchester game on Oct.12, the girls’ smashed the Comets in the first set, 25-3.
Venice is currently second in the Western League right behind Palisades. Palisades hasn’t lost a league game and is leading the division. Venice has struggled against its “rival” Palisades the past year.
According to Coach Allen Hunt, one of the team’s advantages are the 12 senior members. Some are returning starters. He also mentioned that the girls are healthier and started to play better since the start of league.
“For sure we’ll be in the playoffs and in the top fourth seat,” said Coach Hunt.
Venice has a sure spot for the playoffs. Palisades is the only team in their way.
“I think we’ll do good in playoffs because our drive and determination will bring us to the ship,” said Gia Perrone.
