Boys’ tennis, 10-5, is preparing for their second match in the postseason this afternoon at Taft. The match begins at 3 p.m.
The Torredors proved to be a formidable opponent in the past, coach Andrew Horen said.
“Taft is a very strong team, and they have very strong singles players,” he said. “We’re going in there with nothing to lose.”
The Gondoliers have faced Taft in the playoffs in the past, losing 15–14 last year.
“Last year Taft beat us by the closest of margins, we had points to win the whole match but they ended up making it to the finals,” he said.
After securing an important 23–6 win against the South East Jaguars, the team is feeling confident after their first playoffs game.
“It was a pretty big blowout,” he said.
Despite this important victory, the team remains focused, knowing the next game will need most of their strengths and abilities
The main factors in the boys’ success so far is because of their great play.
“We’ve got great singles players, great doubles players,” Horen said, highlighting the team’s strength and adaptability.
The reason behind the morale of the team is their mindset and their ability to go along with every obstacle that they face.
“We’re just going to keep doing what we’re doing,” Horen said.
