As another year starts at Venice, another round of students step up to run for ASB president.
ASB is a program for Venice students to organize and run events for other students on campus, such as dances or club expos.
After a ten day campaigning period, students will vote for the ASB President, Vice President, Treasurer, Historian, and Secretary via a Google form.
This year, there are three candidates for ASB president: senior Lisa Lopez, junior Meadow Hunt, and sophomore Bruno Ciment.
Senior Lisa Lopez
Lopez expressed strong interest in continuing the legacy of the previous ASB president, Abbasali “Boss” Fazal ’24. Although this is her first year in ASB, she tried to get into the class throughout her high school career.
Lopez also wants to introduce “more events within the student community.” She hopes that students will remember both her and Fazal’s legacies through her campaign. Mainly, she wants to ensure that this school year is enjoyable for every student.
Junior Meadow Hunt
If elected, this will be Hunt’s first year in ASB, which she hopes would provide a new perspective of things.
“I saw how a lot of people outside of student leadership thought about things, and I want to bring those ideas into student leadership,” she said.
Hunt chose to run this year because of her strong love for Venice.
“I love the opportunities that Venice gives its students, and I want to give back to the school that gives so much to us,” she said.
Sophomore Bruno Ciment
Bruno Ciment, a sophomore, is also running for ASB president. He plans to improve the bathrooms’ overall quality and make sure they’re open more often.
“I want to make it easier for our programs—like clubs and sports—to advocate for themselves for funding,” he said.
Ciment feels ready for the role.
“I am very qualified,” he said. “I have a lot of leadership experience. I work in many clubs, and I do VHS Ambassadors. I definitely care about this school and our community.”
