The fall semester at Venice High will present students’ talents and creativity in arts.
Here’s what you can expect to see and enjoy.
Fine Arts
This year, fine arts classes at Venice will be making large-scale pieces.
Christopher Wright’s students, for example, will be making big landscape pieces, which will go up on the second floor hallway of the Shop building.
“I’ve been working on a series of big portraits—big scale, like, five feet,” he said.
In art teacher Tyler Fister’s Painting and Design classes, students will produce paintings and sculptures respectively.
Last year his students showcased their art pieces on the walls, which created an art museum aesthetic. Students had a chance to walk by and admire paintings and sketches.
Music
Led by music teachers Aaron Sim and Scott Sutherland, the Music Department plans on organizing a concert later this semester and other events that features the musical talents of Venice students.
Meanwhile, in Marching Band, Sutherland is planning to prepare for competitions, football games, and helping out in the theater department. The band’s first competition is October 12 at Valencia High School.
“We’re trying to get as much of our show ready to go for that,” he said. “Just like a show on stage for theater, we have scenery, we have electronic components, we have a mixer and we have microphones, and we’re trying to put as much production as we can manage.”
