Marching Band Plans for Homecoming
November 3, 2016
At every home game and some away games, the Venice High School band performs a half time show and also plays in the bleachers. For Venice’s Homecoming game on Nov. 4, Mr. David Lee, the band teacher, invited Venice alumni to come and play with the band on the field. Anyone who has previous music experience is also invited to play.
“Not only is it my alumni, but also alumni that are older than me that play with us at Homecoming,” said Mr. Lee.
Mr. Lee has been teaching music at Venice High School for four years.
“Marching band takes dedication and hard work to accomplish what we do every week,” said sophomore and assistant drum major Robert Villages.
“People say that it looks boring or it isn’t that fun, but learning how to play an instrument isn’t easy.”
First semester starts off with marching band and transitions into concert band second semester.
The first week of December, the band will have their first competition. Next semester, Mr. Lee said he will start a jazz band on Fridays after school.
