Celebrities Bellamy Young, from the TV show “Scandal,” Toni Trucks, from “Twilight” and “NCIS: New Orleans”, and David Elkins, a singer and an actor in several independent films, visited Venice High last month on May 4th.

Cedering Fox, the voice of the Oscars, also accompanied these actors when invited by Ms. Wendy Sarnoff to perform and read a selection of poems about domestic violence.

The actors read a variety of poems including Maya Angelou’s Still I Rise and The Man’s Prayer by Eve Ensler.

With domestic violence being the highlight of the presentation, it shed light on the issue, raising awareness to many students and faculty.

“I really liked the song that David sang. It was so original and really inspiring,” said sophomore Johnny Anderson.

Another student also enjoyed the presentation.

“This was a great experience for me. I’m glad that my class got to go because I really liked the actors’ performances,” said Miguel Axel.

The actors later invited a few students to stay a couple minutes after the presentation to take pictures and share stories.
