Last year, the Cheer team made it to National Championship in Las Vegas, Nevada for the first time in three years! Their division at the time was Level 1 co-ed non-tumbling.

“It was amazing. Your adrenaline is crazy when you’re about to perform on stage in front of thousands of people,” said Senior Varsity Cheer Captain Adamarys Abad. “It’s crazy how teams practice for months and work harder than ever just to perform for two and a half minutes.”

This is Abad’s first year as Cheer Captain.

Unlike other sports that only have their seasons for one semester, Cheer happens yearround. The cheerleaders meet three times a week.

The cheer team plans on performing at Grease Night on Sept. 30.

Cheer Coach Joana Trocan-Garrett, who has been at Venice for a total of seven years, is in the process of searching for a new Gunther Gondo.

“My favorite part [about being cheer coach] is creating a memorable and rewarding program,” said Coach Trocan-Garrett.
