A few weeks before the start of this school year, one of Venice High’s teachers, Ms. Jessica Gutierrez, took a great offer for a teaching position at Santa Monica High School, according to Ms. Courtney Lockwood. This left Venice High with an open physics position in August, but the school finally has a candidate for this teaching job.

The candidate was chosen after interviews by the SBM Committee which consists of eight people from Venice High, including a student. Ms. Lockwood said this was not an easy job position to fill, but the school has been lucky enough to have that one good potential candidate take up an offer to be a part of Venice High School.

Unfortunately, this candidate cannot start right away due to the need to be processed by L.A. Unified. This procedure takes at least two weeks.

In the meantime, pool teacher Ms. Grace Ugbogu has filling in for the unfilled position.
