The girls’ basketball team has finished their season with a 15-10 overall record, as well as a 7-5 record in league games.

Due to their solid record, they qualified for Open Division playoffs in the CIF LA City Section. They entered as the 7th seed and lost to 2nd seed Granada Hills Charter High School, 73-53 on Feb 16. The team then fell short in the consolation quarterfinals 63-54 to Eagle Rock on Feb 22. Both losses were against tough, higher-seeded teams, but the team displayed toughness and perseverance through the adversity.

This marks the end of the road for five seniors. Captains Chyna Dews and Katie Miya, as well as Ricki Todd, Almond McKinley and Deandrea Rowe.

Of their experiences playing together, Dews said, “Over my four years of playing basketball I learned that my teammates are really my family and playing with these girls has been one of the best parts of my life. We’ve made a lot of history throughout the last two years and I’m happy that I was a part of it.”
