The late Richard Landau, a Venice High School alum who  recently passed away, donated $139,000 to Venice High School this school year.

Mr. Landau was involved in real estate investing and construction. He donated three

percent of his estate to Venice High school after his passing in Jan. of 2013.

The donation of $139,000 this year was not the only donation. He and his wife,

La Vina “Vi” Landau, also donated $60,000 last year. Next year there will be another

donation of $60-80 thousand. The total amount of the money that will be donated to the

school will be $250,000-300,000.

“Landau enjoyed his time at school and always enjoyed cars and car clubs,” said

trust officer Michael Laubenstein from First Republic Bank, who’s in charge of the

Landau Trust. Mr. Landau probably attended Venice in the ‘60s.

Mr. Landau was born on Nov. 22, 1948. He continued to live in the Mar Vista area during his last years. He was 64 years old when he died and his wife passed away six months before him.

According to Principal Elsa Mendoza, the school will be spending the money on

supplies for the school, textbooks and custodian overtime.
