Luca Diamont Spotlight
October 10, 2019
Senior Luca Diamont is the captain and star quarterback for the Venice High School varsity boys football team, which currently holds an overall record of 2-3 this season. Standing 6 feet and 2 inches, he has played varsity football for all his four years at Venice. Impressively, his stats in every category are higher than the national average. However, it was a long journey for him to get to play at such a high level, and it wasn’t always easy. Also, he has good plans for the future after graduating.
Can you tell us about how you started playing football?
“I started playing football at the age of 5. My older brother played football. So my dad signed me up for flag football at the park next to our apartment, and I just started having fun, and decided to stick with it.”
Whenever you set foot on the field, what is your mentality?
“Just to do my job, have fun, do my best to help my team win, and take it one play at a time.”
Were there any challenges?
“In my sophomore year, I had a concussion and it caused me to sit out the entire season. And it was sad to see my team playing without me. But I had to learn to be a good teammate on the side line and be a good leader.”
What are your future plans after graduating?
“After graduating, I plan on going to Duke to play for them and get an education at the same time. And if given the opportunity, I may play professional football, and I will definitely try to go as far as I can.”
