Football, 1-3, will host the 2-2 Fairfax Lions in Venice High’s annual Homecoming game.

The game will be today at 7 p.m. and the Gondoliers’ last home game of the regular season.

Having dealt with COVID-19 safety protocols for weeks now, the Gondoliers will finally be returning to full strength, according to coach Angelo Gasca.

“Hopefully with the guys back, we’ll be able to make strides with more continuity and consistency,” Gasca said. “Then we’ll be able to evaluate our team better.”

Senior Thomas Kensinger, a captain, said he is confident the Gondoliers will emerge victorious.

“We’re working on our passing game and getting a lot of our guys back definitely helps,” Kensinger said.

The Gondoliers will be coming off a 33-13 loss to the Palisades Dolphins last Friday. They struggled immensely to score, not scoring a touchdown until the third quarter, while giving up 33 points to the Dolphins.

“Obviously a bunch of our guys were out and we were just dominated on both ends of the floor,” Kensinger said.

“I thought our defense looked decent,” said senior D’anthoni Coleman, a linebacker, defensive and offensive lineman.
