Boys’ volleyball has won nine of their first 10 games of the season as they prepare for their tournament pool play in Long Beach today.

How the Gondos do today will determine their playoff ranking tomorrow.

The Gondos will be matching up against Long Beach Poly, Millikan, and Cabrillo today. All three are strong Long Beach teams, according to senior Sean Hanna, a captain.

“It’s going to be important to establish our middles,” Hanna said.

Venice’s first game will start at 3:30 P.M. today.

Boys’ volleyball is coming off a 3-0 victory over the Westchester Comets on Wednesday. According to senior Cole Bechtel, Venice “demolished” Westchester in all three sets.

“Our star hitters led the way and the freshman middle Noah Smith showed up big,” Bechtel said.

Hanna praised the team’s offense in Wednesday’s match.

“Ball control was good and we were able to serve consistently,” Hanna said. “It allowed us to run our offense well.”
