Girls’ water polo, 9-2, had strong communication over the course of their season, said coach Sophie Sabbah.

The team did “pretty awesome” this season, said coach Sophie Sabbah.

They even made it to the second round of the CIF LA City Section Division 1 Championship.

The Gondoliers beat Santee High 19-3 on February 7 in the first round. They eventually lost to the Birmingham Patriots 17-3 in the second round.

“They are all a family, and they communicate with each other well,” she said.

Strong players for the Gondoliers this season were seniors Miley Jones, a captain, and Lauren Nicholas, Sabbah said.

“Laura is a new player—she didn’t know how to play water polo but she eventually learned, and now she’s a beast,” Sabbah said.
