Girls Volleyball Playoffs a Success

The girl’s volleyball team won the City Division 1 Championship as the number one seed on Saturday, Nov. 12th. But they lost the Division 4  State Championship game against St. Anthony. Their record for the regular season this year was 10-2 and their record overall including tournaments was 24-11.

In the state championship game they played against St. Anthony of Long Beach. “The teams excited for themselves, Venice High School, and the LA City Section volleyball community,” according to the head coach Robin Hunt.

St. Anthony was placed the number 1 seed in their regional division, Set 1 score was St. Anthony 25 and Venice 21. Set 2 score was St.Anthony 25 and Venice 18. Set 3 score was St. Anthony 25 and Venice Venice 21. The loss ended the teams season. “Even though we lost, we had an incredible season and made it far,” says Lorriane Bruce.

In the City Championship they played against Cleveland High on Nov. 15. Cleveland was seed number 3 in City Division 1. Set 1 score was Cleveland 13 and Venice 25. Set 2 score was Cleveland 25 and Venice 18 . Set 3 score was Cleveland 17 and Venice 25. Set 4 score was Cleveland 15 and Venice 25, giving the win to Venice.

In their second round of playoffs on Nov. 8 they played against Southgate. Set 1 score was Southgate 12 and Venice 25. Set 2 score was Southgate 22 and Venice 25. Set 3 score was Southgate 19 and Venice 25.

In their first round of playoffs they played against Verdugo Hills on Nov. 3. Set 1 score was Verdugo Hills 15 and Venice 25. Set 2 score wasVerdugo Hills 18 and Venice 25. Set 3 score was Verdugo Hills 15 and Venice 25.
