The Venice girls volleyball team made it to the semifinals in the City Section. On Nov.7 they played Chatsworth High School where they took an unfortunate loss of 0-3.

The second round of playoffs didn’t go the way the team wanted it to.

“We did our best but we lost,” said senior captain Camille Golden.

The team won the first round of playoff games on Nov. 2 against Bell High School with an amazing score of 3-0.

“I thought we played excellent volleyball against Bell, a very fantastic opponent with excellent defensive skills,” said assistant coach Raul Aviles. “We played up to their level.” Aviles is the assistant to Head Coach Robin Hunt.

Last season they won the City Section Finals and were disappointed when they didn’t reach their goal this year.

“It’s always a little disappointing when your goal is to get into the championship game ,but the volleyball was excellent,” said Aviles.

This year a total of nine graduating seniors will be leaving the team and the coaches are looking forward to developing the new members coming in.

“It’s sad, I’m going to miss it a lot,” said Golden.

Next year the team will be working harder to achieve their goal to get to the championship once more.
