From Nov. 6-15, the Black Student Union and Associated Student Body collected donations for the Thanksgiving Food Drive.

The items that the Venice High community donated were given to less fortunate families from Ms. Traci Nichols-Thrasher’s church. The groups suggested people donate traditional Thanksgiving foods such as instant mashed potatoes, canned yams and canned vegetables.

BSU and ASB were supposed to collect items from Nov 6-13, but extended the last day until the 15. Collections bins were located in the Attendance Office and rooms 14, 130 and 254.

“There are people who are less fortunate than us and giving back makes me feel good,” said ASB and BSU President Shara Wade. “The food we gave them really does help them and it gives them something to be grateful for. Good deeds like this are needed.”
