The swim team is big this year, with a total of 90 swimmers and 7 divers.

The star divers are juniors Katelyn Reyes, Harrison Van Aken and captain Sanam Viliani.

Reyes has been diving since she was ten, Viliani since she was 7 and Van Aken since he was 8.

The divers also swim for the team. Every day at 4:30 p.m. they bring down the diving board and begin to practice their dives.

“My favorite part of diving is how fun it is and how it makes you forget about everything else.” says captain Viliani who has also been swimming for years and is also on the varsity swim team.

Before every swim meet the team dives and get rated on a scale of 1-10 based on how well they did. Viliani scores an average of 6 on every dive she performs.

“Swim and dive has always been my favorite thing since I could remember,” said Reyes.

The team has been practicing since the beginning of spring  semester and has been improving every day.

“We are looking forward to a successful season,” said Van Aken. “I prefer swimming over diving. When I swim, it makes me forget about everything else and I just try to focus on winning.”
