Due to construction at Venice High, the softball team will not have a field to practice on for possibly three to four years. According to Coach Lamont Holland, they plan on having practice at Penmar Park or the football field.

“We would need transportation,” said Coach Holland. “We would also need to coordinate with soccer if we were to use the football field.”

Last season, the Venice varsity softball team claimed the title of Western League Champions and made it into the CIF City Section Playoffs. The missing softball field could be a potential obstacle when it comes down to their season.

“It actually kind of sucks,” said softball player Meleane Sutherland. “For some of us, it’s our last year.”

Future teams will have to adjust to practice without an official field.

“We enjoyed our last home game,” said Coach Holland. “We all took a picture in front of the wall before they tore it down.”
