Teens and adults alike have been enjoying two charming teen romance films from Netflix since their release earlier this year.

“To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” is a movie about a teenage girl trying to cope with life when all of her love letters are released publicly;  “Sierra Burgess Is a Loser” is a movie about a girl dealing with insecurities and trying to win over her crush’s heart under a different identity.

“I really enjoy the message the movies portray,” said junior Fatima Reyes. “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” had a diverse cast which I enjoyed and in Sierra Burgess Is a Loser,” it was nice to see a plus size actress as the main character.”

“I have been enjoying the recent Netflix movies because I can relate to them,” said Sasha Box. “I think ‘To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before’ was my favorite because the storyline was interesting. My mom thought the movie was very cute.”

Netflix is an entertainment platform that offers productions like original movies, documentaries and TV shows. Reed Hastings and Marc Randolph co-founded Netflix in 1997 and at the time only offered online movie rentals. Since its creation, Netflix has been expanding worldwide with millions of new members joining every day. Netflix’s first original feature film “Beasts of No Nation” was released in 2015 and has since then created many more original films.

Netflix is planning on making many more original films in the future spending roughly about $7-8 billion on them, according to a New York Times article by John Koblin. Original content has been a game changer for this online entertainment platform and has challenged other production companies to step up their game.
