Venice with another W!

On September 28, Venice had a successful game at their away game against Hamilton, winning 41-0. The previous game on September 21 against Paramount also resulted in a win. Venice has had a successful season so far with only two losses.

Venice started their league games and dominated Hamilton winning 41-0. The boys were able to score six touchdowns with the help from Everson Bozeman, Chad Johnson, Makai Cope and Luca Diamont. Also 5 points resulting from kicker, Naing Thiha.

“Hamilton game was a great way to start league,” said quarterback Diamont.

Despite trailing Paramount 20-0, the Venice varsity football team came back for a 37-34 win.

“The first quarter was horrible I felt like we were in a lot of trouble… I was obviously worried that we weren’t ready to play,” said Coach Angelo Gasca.

As halftime was approaching, quarterback Luca Diamont threw two touchdown passes but the Gondoliers trailed 27-14. When Paramount went ahead 34-14 the team had to root for each other, said receiver Chad Johnson.

“Losing wasn’t a thought at any time of the game for the Venice football team,” Johnson said.

The team responded with three touchdowns and a safety to take a  37-34 lead.

Junior Everson Bozeman sealed the win with a last-minute interception.

“Man that winning interception, that was the greatest thing ever. I just felt great.” Bozeman said.

Johnson scored three touchdowns and now has eight for the season.

“I try to do as much as I can when the ball is in my hand,” he said.

Diamont finished the game with four touchdown passes and now has 17 the last five games.

The wins improved their record to 4-2 as they moved into conference play. Their next game is away at University High School on October 5 at 7:00 pm.
