The Venice boys water polo team played Roosevelt high school in their first-round playoff game on Monday, Oct. 29, easily blowing by them in an 18-2 win.

This year’s water polo team is staying strong throughout the end of their season and so far through the post-season, with an overall record of 11-6, and an almost perfect record in the Western League at 6-2. They enjoyed a three game winning streak in September against Santa Ana Valley, Godinez and La Mirada high school.

“It’s been great watching the team learn to work together, as we got many new faces to play water polo this season,” said senior Shu Watanabe. “I’ve seen many players improve and get much better at the sport.”

They will play rival Palisades High School in the second round of playoffs on Nov. 1 at 3 pm.
