The varsity football team, led by Coach Angelo Gasca, won their first game of the season against El Camino Real High School on Friday, August 23. The game ended in a win for Venice with a score of 26-10. The boys were able to score four touchdowns with the help from Everson Bozeman, Donovan Moore and Luca Diamont. Also 2 points resulting from kicker Nikolas Rosenberg.

According to Coach Gasca, their long term goal is to win their league and try to go deep into playoffs. Gasca is convinced they will have a successful season.

The team played against Harvard-Westlake on Aug. 30 with a losing score of 35-28. According to receiver Jose Montes, they put up a great fight throughout the game but could have improved in their turnovers.

“It’s always great to start off the season with a win because it builds confidence within the team,” said Montes.

Their next home game will take place on Friday Sep. 20 at 7 p.m. Their first league game will be against University High school on Friday Oct.4.

“This season we will shock the whole City on how many games we will win. With Chad Johnson and Makai Cope leaving, critics have a lot of doubt on whether we can compete with other schools successfully.” said Montes.
