SpongeBob is making waves in our world

Jacob Jimenez, Asst. Entertainment Editor

We all remember watching the adventures of that funny lovable yellow sponge and his five-pointed pink friend, Patrick. SpongeBob Squarepants is a T.V. show of our generation’s childhood, and now SpongeBob is back in his second movie called “SpongeBob Squarepants: Sponge out of water.” The movie comes out Feb. 6th.

The new movie is a suspenseful action-packed comedy. SpongeBob must find the book of magical powers before Burger-Bandit (Antonio Banderas) uses it for evil. The book makes everything you write come true.

The trailer starts with Burger-Bandit looking at a book that is floating in the jungle. Then Burger-Bandit on his ship opening the book and writing something in it. Burger-Bandit needs the secret formula because that is the missing piece that will harness the power of the magical book.

The camera goes down in the water and shows Bikini Bottom, then zooms in on Krusty Krabs, showing where the secret formula is hidden.

But the familiar crew from Bikini Bottom fails to defend Kusty Krabs from Burger-Bandit. So now SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward, Mr. Crabs, Sandy, and Plankton have to go to the surface to stop him. Here is where the animated world of SpongeBob overlaps with the real world. People who have been watching SpongeBob since they were younger will want to see this movie.

The show by creator Stephen Hillenburg had 191 episodes but it got canceled before its 10th season. It first aired on May 1,1999. SpongeBob has been a big hit since then and he is promoted through games, clothing, toys, and movies.
