Prom will take place at Venice High Saturday, May 21.

The theme for prom is Masquerade—”a more elegant mardi gras,” said Senior Lexie Buckley, Class of 2022 President.

Currently, the price for a Prom ticket is $95. But then every week leading up to Prom, the price will increase by $10.

According to the class of 2022 sponsor and biology teacher Julia Bare, “students can absolutely expect that it will feel like an every year kind of prom, even though it’s on campus.” She added,“it’s really going to feel like prom, and even though it’s expensive, it’s less expensive than any other prom in the district.”

There will be a free photo booth that prints unlimited amounts of pictures, a dance floor, and a full meal provided.

Outside guests are allowed, but students wishing to bring one have to fill out the guest information on the Prom Eligibility Form, which is available in Room 246, the main office, or the counseling office. Guests from a different high school need to get an administrator signature from their school as well as the dean’s signature.

Senior April Aguilar said that prom at Venice wasn’t a big deal to her.

“It was kind of like, ‘I’ll go just to go,’ but it wasn’t something I was dreaming of during high school.”

Senior Ximena Ramirez is looking forward to their prom for their last year at Venice, especially after coming back from COVID-19.

“I didn’t think things were going to go back to normal, or we weren’t going to have a prom,” they said. “So it’s better to have it here than not have one. I want to have fun with friends and just dance because that’s what prom is all about.”
