Football, 0-2, will be going on the road to face the Narbonne Gauchos, 1-2, tonight at 7:30 P.M.
Senior Tate Evarts, a co-captain with seniors Nathan Santa Cruz and Noah Devlin, said that if the team is victorious, that “we’ll be able to build off of the momentum.”
“It’s going to be a tough battle,” Evarts said. “If we come in with fundamentals and everyone does their jobs, we’ll have a good shot with those guys.”
With a good amount of underclassmen and juniors, the team has a great amount of potential and talent, with last years’ Junior Varsity team going 10-0 undefeated. But it all “takes time.”
“They don’t have as much experience, and I think that they’re learning a lot every day, coming into new games and going against new teams,” Evarts said. “We’re in the preseason right now, learning against really good teams to prepare us for the playoffs.”
Evart highlights sophomore Jaiden Noel, the quarterback since freshman year. “The ball is always where it’s supposed to be.”
He also highlights the performance of senior Noah Devlin alongside the team as a whole.“They’re doing a really good job of learning and growing everyday,” he said, “taking in new information and putting it into play.”
With the season having only started August 23, the Gondoliers have a long way to go before playoffs.
“As we go into the league, we’ll be better prepared to play better teams in the future. It’s just a time to learn and grow as a team,” he said.
“At the end of the day, we’re still on track for the league championship.”
