The Boys’ Soccer team finished their season with a 16–6–1 record, making history by winning their first-ever league championship.
In its first year in Open Division, the team went undefeated in league and won league for the first time in 20 years. It’s something that hasn’t happened since 1987.
Their playoff run ended in a hard-fought loss against South Gate Thursday, Feb. 20, where injuries occurred early.
Despite the setback, the team battled for the full 80 minutes.
“They fought, they battled, they kept on competing,” Webster added.
The team’s offensive power came from the front four: Gamero, Lev,Quivfn, and Marquis. Together, they scored more than 60 goals, according to Webster.

South Gate coach Armando Pelayo called Venice “hard competition.”
“You guys have a very high quality team,” he said. “So it took us to be disciplined, ultimately, to do the things that we needed to do and be successful.”
Senior Zack Lev highlighted the team’s resilience. “It was tough, because we had some injuries but it wasn’t a bad performance,” he said.
Venice’s season was filled with highlights, including a thrilling 2–1 win over Palisades February 8 and a last-minute goal by senior Billy Quinn, captain, against Fairfax February 5.
Though they fell short of their city title goal, the team’s historic run and unbreakable spirit made their community proud.
“Overall, it’s a great season,” Webster said. “But it’s always tough to end it like this.”
