Today’s hottest new game, Dress To Impress, is taking the world by storm with its trendy themes and interactive chats
After almost a year since its release on Roblox, the game Dress To Impress is still garnering attention from people everywhere, including some of our own students here at Venice High.
So what is it about Dress To Impress that makes it so popular?
The game is centered around being able to put together an outfit based on a theme for example, you might find yourself dressing up for a halloween party or as a cyberpunk. Players have five minutes to choose clothing pieces and even pick different makeup styles according to the theme. After the timer runs out players have to rank the outfits from one to five stars as they walk down the catwalk.
Even though the game was released in November of last year, it really started to pick up in June of this year. It became widely known through TikTok as many teenagers started to make videos documenting their experiences when playing.
Junior Oliva Mulhern has been playing since June. She enjoys the game, because she loves making outfits and being creative through clothes.
“I think it’s really fun for people who are really into fashion and winning,” she says.
While the game is mostly cordial, there is some healthy competitiveness between players (especially during the final reveal of outfits).
”It’s mixed because I hate losing when I know my outfits are the best,” Mulhern says.
However when she does get on the podium it makes it all the much better.
Mulhern plays often with her closest friends and has even got them hooked on the game. One of them is junior Ras Gray, who plays a couple times a week.
Here are Gray’s strategies for newcomers:
“Just do the theme and try your best not to be basic and layer your clothes,” he says.
It also helps to have codes that give you access to different clothing pieces that not everyone will know about.
There are many ways to elevate an outfit in Dress To Impress. Some players even buy a VIP subscription that allows them to have exclusive access to clothing, shoes, and accessories.
The more creative you are with your outfits the higher chance you have to be on the podium. Although it is just a dress up game, it enforces creativity and allows for teenagers to think quickly on their feet.
“I think everyone should download it right now,” Mulhern says.
