Girls’ soccer’s, 7-2-3 overall, will be hosting the Hamilton Yankees, 3-8 overall, in a league match today at 4:30 p.m.

The Gondoliers who have already faced and beaten the Yankees earlier this year expect they will do the same, said coach Chaka Forman.

“Nothing particularly concerns me,” he said.

The team remains confident in their ability to beat the Yankees once more.

“I don’t have any worries about this match, we have proven we can beat them before, and I hope to use this game to further strengthen our team’s dynamic,” said senior Isabella Mylan, a co-captain with junior Somer Staley.

Despite this the team still needs to “capitalize on our scoring opportunities in the final third,” said Mylan.

Staley said that the Gondoliers feel confident, because they have faced a similar roster last year.

“We know the players and how they play which will be helpful during this game,” she said.

However, the team recognizes the need “to have lots of movement on the field and be able to connect our passes,” said Staley.

When it comes to the success of the team, Forman attributes their ability to connect. “We sort of have a spiritual component to our team, and we really believe that our togetherness is what ultimately drives us to success,” he said.

Even with their recent successes, the team needs to stay organized and continue to have communication with each other and “work through and become more consistent,” Forman said.

The team continues to motivate each other and, “putting in hard work at practices, maintaining the intensity,” said Mylan.
