Boys’ Basketball Ready To “Win Or Go Home”

It’s win or go home for boys’ basketball, 13-16, as they gear up for their first round of CIF State this upcoming Tuesday.

The Gondoliers will be finding out their opponent tonight..
“We just have to go in with a different mentality—State is a completely different atmosphere,” said senior Rodrigo Trujillo, a captain alongside his twin brother Lucca Trujillo.

This comes after the Gondolier’s loss, 52-81, February 19 against their rivals, the 19-11 Palisades Dolphins in the first round of the CIF Open Division playoffs.
“We only had maybe two or three returning guys who’ve already played in the playoffs, so many don’t have experience in playoffs,” Trujillo said. “The young guys did a good job, but it did affect us in some decision making, and the nerves come in when it’s your first time playing in the playoffs.”
Looking back at the playoff match against the Dolphins, Trujillo believes that mentality will be the Gondoliers’ best tool going forward.

“Just play with confidence – we take a lot from experience,” he said.
