Track, currently undefeated in league meets, looks to continue its impressive run as they participate in the Western League Preliminaries and Finals today.

“We have been preparing for this Prelims challenge for weeks,” coach Alfredo Korzenik said.

The Gondoliers seem to be poised for another successful meet, according to senior James Jimenez, a runner.

“Our team is prepared and has been working hard, and I’m glad to be able to improve my time,” Jimenez said.

Boys’ and girls’ track had a successful South Bay Varsity Championships meet, which occurred over spring break on April 16 with some top finishers, according to coach Alfredo Korzenik.

Jimenez went under two minutes in the 800-meter dash with a time of 1:59 and senior Nathan Santa Cruz performed well in the 400-meter dash with a time of 0:59.

Korzenik is proud of the team and feels his runners have plenty of potential to compete at a very high level and continue to improve their times.

“Our team chemistry has been great and we have many talented athletes,” Korzenik said.

He also spoke about where he feels the runners need to make the most improvements.

“We need to work on hurdles and high jumps, which has been our main focus and important so we can improve,” Korzenik said.
