Girls soccer season has just begun. They had their first game Dec. 6 against University High School, but scores were not available at presstime.

This year the team has high hopes of making it to playoffs again. Last season they made it to playoffs, but unfortunately lost in the first round to John Marshall High School with a score of 1-0.

“ All the girls this year are amazingly dedicated,” said varsity captain Keila Medina.” They are committed to the team and each other and I know they will go out and put their all into each game.”

The soccer girls have run into some problems so far this year, according to Medina. One of the major problems is having no defensive backline. All of the defensive players from last year’s team graduated, and new players have yet to grow into those positions.  Despite this minor setback  the team is hopeful for a successful season.

The girls played Animo Venice on Nov. 29 winning 9-0. Five of those goals were made by varsity captain Victoria Corpuz.

The next game is Friday Dec. 8.
