Football, 3–4, is set to take on Fairfax High tonight in a rare Thursday night matchup due to referee scheduling conflicts.

Despite the change, the Gondoliers are ready to take the field and continue their strong momentum deep into the season.

Coach Angelo Gasca said the team has stayed consistent in its approach.

“We prepare the same no matter whether we win or lose,” Gasca said. “Unfortunately, because of the rain, our field was soaked, so we had to practice on the blacktop. But after seven games, a bye, and a scrimmage, we’re ready to play.”

The Gondoliers are coming off a tough stretch of games, including several matchups against undefeated teams. Gasca praised his players for their toughness and growth over the season.

“Every Friday is like a test for a student,” he said. “We see where we are, how much we’ve improved, and what we still need to work on.”

Senior Jonathan Sharp, who plays defensive end and receiver, said the team has stayed focused on improvement.

“I just work hard with dedication,” Sharp said. “I want the team to go to the championship. If we lock in and don’t get hurt, we can do it.”

Throughout the season, several players have made consistent contributions. Gasca noted the efforts of multiple players saying that “almost across the board, everybody’s improving.”

The game against Fairfax marks another opportunity for the Gondos to build on its experience as the team heads deeper into the season.
