Girls’ volleyball, 30–10 overall, feel “pretty confident” coming into this year’s playoffs, said senior Gaia Adeseun-Willaims, a captain alongside senior Samantha Lortie.

“A lot of the seniors, they’ve been playing together for so long, ” Adeseun-Williams said.

The Gondoliers begin their postseason journey next Wednesday in the CIF City Section Open Division finals. With last year’s loss in the CIF City Section Open Division finals against Taft, the team has used that as “fuel that we can use going into playoffs,” Lortie said.

“That loss helped us really focus on the smaller things—things we might overlook, and just really be disciplined and really precise with what we’re doing, so that we can be better for this,” Lortie said.

As the seniors start to close out their last season Williams shares her hopes for the team in the future.

“I also hope that even after we’re gone, they continue to have a drive and play at a high level, and we have some great leaders on the team, so I hope that us leaving can help someone else step up and be a leader for the team,” said Williams.

In the team’s Senior Night October 13, the Gondoliers shut out Hamilton 3-0.
