Boys’ soccer, 3–1 Thursday, is off to a strong start this season while staying undefeated in league play.
“I think we’re improving all the time,” said coach Nick Webster. “Players are getting to understand what we’re trying to do, and we’re showing a great deal of spirit.”
According to senior London Webster, the captain, the seniors’ leadership is helping hold the team together.
“Every senior on the team deserves a big shout-out,” he said. “We’ve taken it upon ourselves to take care of all the equipment and make sure everything’s in order.”
The Gondoliers completed a 3–2 comeback win against LACES last Wednesday. Coach Webster described the game as one of the wildest of the year and as a “really dramatic game.
“It was a thriller, an absolute epic. We showed so much character and determination and fight,” he said.
The recent victories have boosted the team’s confidence as they prepare for their next matches.
“Anytime you get wins, you’re gonna get confidence. And I think the team is getting more confident. We’ve had some injuries, but now everyone’s getting back healthy, and the team’s looking good,” Coach Webster said.
The team were to have visited Windward Saturday in a non-league match-up.
