The starring actors of the first “Ride Along” movie came back to the theater in the blockbuster action-comedy “Ride Along 2.”

The Ride Along sequel with star Ice Cube takes place a year after the events of the first movie. Ben (Kevin Hart) has become a rookie police officer and now wants to become a police detective, but no one believes he has the potential. His wedding to marry Angela (Tika Sumpter) is approaching. Lt. Brooks (Bruce McGill) assigns Angela’s brother, James (Ice Cube), to Miami to find the boss of a drug dealer.

James takes Ben with him to Miami to prove he can’t be a detective because he doesn’t have what it takes. Throughout the movie, the brothers-in-law go on a law-breaking, chaotic, fun and nonsense adventure with A.J the hacker (Ken Jeong) and Detective Maya Cruz (Olivia Munn).

Released on Jan. 15 and directed by Tim Story, “Ride Along 2” grossed an estimated $41 million over the four-day Martin Luther King Jr. weekend and became the first film to overtake “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”, which finally dropped to number three, according to CNN News. This film made $1.3 million from Jan. 22 preview improved from the $1.1 million Ride Along.
