After 20 years since their first road trip (“Dumb and Dumber”), Lloyd Christmas (Jim Carey) and Harry Dunn (Jeff Daniels) go on a new quest to find Harry’s daughter who was given up for adoption. Throughout the trip, Harry and Lloyd overcome obstacles through the most idiotic ways possible.

The film starts off directly after the first movie ended. Lloyd supposedly falls into a catatonic depression and is admitted into an assisted living facility. His best friend Harry comes to visit him every day, changes his diaper and empties his colostomy bag.

After 20 years in depression, Lloyd breaks his silence and tells Harry he was faking it and it was a long joke. After this revelation, the two revisit their old apartment. Once in the apartment, Harry tells Lloyd that he needs a new kidney.

The duo heads to Harry’s parents’ home to find a compatible donor. At Harry’s parents home, he is given a 20-year-old postcard from a Fraida Felcher (Katheen Turner) informing him that she is pregnant. After locating Fraida, he gets his daughter’s current address and a picture of her.

Lloyd instantly falls in love with her and encourages Harry to find his daughter. Then the quest starts from Rhode Island to El Paso, to find Harry’s daughter in hope that she’ll be kidney match.

The movie itself is a funny nostalgic reminder of the first movie. The storyline is the same, just with even more immature jokes from Harry and Lloyd. The childish jokes follow throughout the whole movie until the very end making you laugh constantly.
