The girls golf team has had to forfeit all three matches so far this season due to not having enough players. They hope the second half of the season will be better.

The team has the five players necessary to play a match, but two of the players have had trouble getting athletic clearance.

Kevin Behrendt has been the coach of the golf team for the past seven years. Coach Behrendt attended Venice and was was part of the team his junior and senior year.

“I enjoy being part of the team,” said junior Mia Kelly, who has been on the golf team for the past two years. ” Since it’s a smaller community, you become closer with the people on the team.”

In 2015 the girls won the Western League Championship and took fourth place in the City Finals.

The golf team practices Monday through Thursday and they have games on Friday. Games and practices are usually held at Penmar Golf Course or Westchester. The next game will be held at Penmar on Friday, Oct. 6 at 2 p.m.

If you are interested in joining boys golf next semester or girls golf next year, be sure to keep an eye out for announcements of tryouts.
