In April and May of 2025, the Future Farmers of America (FFA) program within Venice High School introduced three bunnies onto the campus.
Animal interactions in a high school environment can give our students the opportunity to broaden their animal expertise.
“It allows kids that live in an urban area to get these experiences that they otherwise wouldn’t be able to experience,” said junior Daniel Duffy, the treasurer of Venice’s FFA chapter.
Now it’s time to meet our furry Gondos!

S’mores (F) – 1 ½ years old
S’mores is an affectionate female with a special love for lettuce and playtimes.
Her coat is mixed with the colors of graham crackers, chocolate, and marshmallows, hence the fitting name S’mores.
Venice students describe S’mores as friendly and social, given that she likes to come up to the edge of the cage to say hi to visiting teachers, staff, and students.
When she is outside of her enclosure, S’mores enjoys running up and down the tables of the classroom, although she tends to slip on her fur.

McFlurry (M) – 1 year old
McFlurry is a sassy male with a passion for standing up on his hind legs. His fluffy coat is mostly colored black, but there are some hidden hints of grey and white.
McFlurry’s energetic foot thumps display both his attitude and love for human attention. When he is exploring the classroom, McFlurry is not quite coordinated due to his long hair and impaired vision.
Make sure to feed him some lettuce when you get the chance!

Shadow (M) – 10 months
If there is a tiny dark figure in the corner, don’t look the other way, it’s probably Shadow!
With his pitch black fur and tendency to hide, he may be hard to spot, but he is always there. Although he may be a little timid and shy, make sure to pay Shadow a visit and show him some love.
