It’s officially photo season for the class of 2026. As people rush to schedule last minute photoshoots, what are people wearing in their senior photos?
Senior photos are a significant part of the senior experience, but with that comes the nerve-wrecking question: What should I wear?
At the end of the day, this photo will serve as a memory for your time in high school; they’re the photos you and your families will look back on as the years go by. Senior photos signify the end of secondary school but they also represent the growth of a new character.
The outfit that you choose for your photos speaks a lot about how your personalities and interests have evolved over the years and the person you will come to be as you leave high school.
Aaliyah Baskett says her main focus with these pictures was to make sure they were the perfect photos to be remembered by something that truly felt like her.
“As for all my outfits I dress for the occasion but also how I’m feeling!” she says. “For these pictures in particular, I wanted to give ‘classy’ and ‘grown’ to solidify my mark on my time at Venice.”
Something that inspired Baskett’s outfit is the bible verse, Solomon 4:7, which will also serve as her senior quote. She wanted her outfit to embody beauty and class and, in that regard, she definitely “understood the assignment.”
These outfits are more than just looks and aesthetics for many seniors—they symbolize the person that they want to become.
For other seniors, the outfit they wear represents a personal achievement or milestone.
Senior Luz Garcia wore her dance attire in her senior portraits, an outfit she got to design for herself. She says that dance has been a big part of her life since she was eight years old, and so being able to wear her dance attire was important to her.
“It is very different because when people think of dance they think of ballet, jazz or hip hop,” she says. “I’m very happy to be able to represent a different style of dance as a high school student as well.”
Both Baskett and Garcia recommend staying true to yourself when picking your outfit to wear. They believe that you should wear something that you feel your best in rather than something that’s trending or what others expect you to wear.
Most seniors agree that the right way to go when it comes to senior photos is just to choose something that feels right for you. Cash Celis is bringing a little piece of home for his photos—his dog!
“I want to choose something that will help me create good memories when I look back at the photos,” he said.
Celis’s look is meant to be timeless and most of all meaningful—something that will always bring back good memories and that he is sure he won’t regret years from now. For Celis, including his dog makes the shoot even more special, since it represents an important part of his life.
The majority of seniors also align on the fact that one thing to avoid for senior photos is very casual clothing. Instead it’s best to opt for something a little more timeless.
“Something too casual might not be the best lasting impression,” according to Juliet Rodriguez.
The most important thing is that your photo feels like you.
“That photoshoot is too expensive to be wearing something you don’t feel fabulous in,” Garcia says.
