Matcha vs. Coffee: The Great Debate

Reading Time: 1 minute

As humans, we always rely on some sort of caffeine and energy boost to get us through the morning or even throughout the day in general.

But these days, there has been a debate between the two most popular options—matcha or coffee.

Both of these options have unique benefits and drawbacks. With both giving almost the same effect but different taste, it all just depends on your personal preference.

Our First Fighter—Matcha

Matcha is a finely ground powder of high-quality green tea leaves, typically whisked with hot water to create a frothy, vibrant green beverage, and is a cornerstone of the Japanese tea ceremony.

Matcha can be paired with anything, like a cold foam, strawberry puree, or any fruit and it’s so sweet and the perfect pairing.

It’s a much “cleaner” caffeine high. The caffeine is released slowly, giving you a longer, smoother hit of energy. This is down to the amino acid, which reduces how quickly the body absorbs caffeine.  Most people say it tastes like grass but it’s so good!

Our Second Fighter—Coffee

Coffee is a brewed beverage made from the roasted and ground seeds of the coffee plant, containing caffeine and enjoyed for its flavor, aroma, and stimulating effects. Being paired with unique creamers like smores, cookies and cream, and even cookie butter can make the perfect sweet pairing for an iced coffee.

While matcha contains less caffeine than a cup of coffee, it could keep you feeling alert for much longer, some say from three-six hours. And all this without the risk of the jitters or the crash.

And the winner is…

Matcha could be a good alternative for anyone who wants to enjoy an energy boost but is particularly sensitive to caffeine.

This is why matcha is the better option than coffee!
